巻頭言
2019年よりスタートしたRIEC Newswebの2023年春号ニュースセレクションをお届けします。本号では、2022年11月から2023年4月までのトピックを厳選しました。2022年度より開始された研究プロジェクトの紹介に加えて、通研国際シンポジウムのレポート、量子デバイスに関する豆知識等を掲載しています。コンテンツはRIEC Newsweb編集委員会で慎重にピックアップしたものですが、ご希望やご意見がございましたら、編集委員会（riec-newsweb@grp.tohoku.ac.jp）までお寄せいただけると幸いです。
さて、5月8日にCOVID-19が5類感染症に移行されたことに伴い、講義や研究会の多くが対面で実施されるようになり、コロナ禍以前の社会に戻りつつあります。依然として感染拡大の防止に努める必要はありますが、研究活動においても対面でしか得られないメリットは少なくありませんので、この機会に一層研究を加速させていきたいところです。
また、一年間の編集長在任中、企画・編集作業にあたり編集委員の皆様（田中先生、山末先生、加納先生、曽先生）には多大なご尽力を頂きました。加えて、本Newswebプラットフォームの管理・運営にあたってはやわらかい情報システムセンターのスタッフの皆様に大変お世話になりました。この場をお借りして御礼申し上げます。
なお、当研究所の改組に伴い、RIEC Newswebは本号をもちまして廃刊とさせていただきます。本年度からは別の形で通研の最新情報についてお知らせする予定ですので、楽しみにお待ちいただければと思います。

We are pleased to present the Spring 2023 News Selection of RIEC Newsweb started in 2019. In this issue, we have selected topics from November 2022 to April 2023: in addition to the introduction of research projects started in FY 2022, we have included reports on RIEC international symposiums, bits of knowledges about quantum devices, and more. The contents have been carefully selected by the RIEC editorial board. We welcome any comments and requests from you (riec-newsweb@grp.tohoku.ac.jp).
Now that COVID-19 was moved to Category V Infectious Diseases in Japan on May 8, many lectures and research meetings are being held in person, and most social activities are returning to the way it was before the pandemic. While we still need to have to prevent the spread of infection, there are many advantages that can only be obtained through in-person meetings even in research activities, and we would like to take this opportunity to further accelerate our research.
Due to reorganization of RIEC, RIEC Newsweb will cease publication after this issue. We plan to inform you about our latest news in a different form from this year. We hope that you will look forward to it.
At the end of my one-year role as Editor-in-Chief, I would like to thank Profs. Tanaka, Yamasue, Kano, Tseng, for their invaluable efforts as the editorial board. I would also like to thank the FIR members for the management of the Newsweb platform.
