President Hideo Ohno (Former Director and Professor of RIEC) received ISCS Welker Award. The Welker Award was established in 1976 in honor of Heinrich Welker, the “father of III-V compound semiconductors”. This award has been given away for the outstanding researchers including three Nobel Laureates in the area of III-V compound semiconductors.

His award is due to “For seminal contributions to the materials science, physics of ferromagnetic III-V semiconductors and spintronics”.

The award ceremony (May 20) was held in the 46th International Symposium on Compound Semiconductors (ISCS) and the 31st International Conference on Indium Phosphide and Related Materials (IPRM) in Nara, Japan.
