[Number of recruits]
One Project Specially Appointed Researcher (Postdoctoral Researcher)
Information Storage Systems Laboratory,
Information Communication Platforms Division,
Research Institute of Electrical Communication, Tohoku University
[Outline of position]
We have secured funding to work on a project studying high speed magnetisation switching. In the presence of a thermal gradient a spin current may be generated that can assist switching of the magnetisation in information storage devices, such as hard disk drives and magnetoresistive random access memories. This project aims to develop models of the magnetisation switching process that can explain experimental results provided by collaborators.
As such the position will involve the following:
Development and execution of micromagnetic simulations
Calculations of high speed magnetisation reversal (including thermal gradients and spin currents)
Evaluating and understanding experimental results from collaborators
[Qualifications]
The candidate must hold a doctoral degree or be expected to obtain it by the time of appointment.
Ability to develop software, e.g. in C.
Experience in R&D of magnetic materials and devices is highly desirable.
The applicant should be able to communicate effectively in Japanese or English.
