中沢正隆教授は，IEEE Photonics Societyより2010年のQuantum Electronics Awardを受賞しました．同賞は，量子エレクトロニクスの研究分野で顕著な業績を挙げた研究者を表彰するものです．

受賞内容は，「For seminal contribution and leadership in the advancement of optical communications and fiber lasers through the invention of the compact erbium-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA)」です．

受賞式は5月19日に国際会議CLEO2010 (San Jose, May 16-21, 2010) のプレナリーセッションで行なわれました.
